Shri Govindrao Munghate Arts and Science College, Kurkheda is the leading institution of Higher Education in tribal and most backward area of Kurkheda, which is most backward, tribal area of Gadchiroli, district. This area is affected by the Naxal Movement. The organization realized the urgent need to provide higher education to the tribal pupils of the area. The college is affiliated to Rastrasant Tukdoji Maharaj ,Nagpur University Nagpur and was established by ‘Dandakaranya Educational, Cultural and Reasearch Development Society in the year 1990 to fill the vacuum and serve the educational interest of the people of the area
The college is situated in a beautiful natural background of lush, green vegetation and paddy fields. |
The college is presently housed in a fairly large single storey building. Since the college is one of the four prime colleges of the district which have permanent affiliation and registered under 2(f) and 12 (b) of the U.G.C. Act, it has started getting the development grands from the U.G.C. This is a great stride in its progress, besides being accredited by the NAAC, Bangalore, with c+ grade. The college will soon erect a multi-storyed building and hostels for both boys and girls. The college is acquiring more land for further expansion of the campus as well as for infrastructural facilities.
